In this painting, I present Elton John as he has always been: colorful, idiosyncratic, and unmistakably himself. His face is constructed from geometric planes, as if his life consists of countless phases and masks that together form a single whole. The large pink glasses are not an accessory, but a symbol of his courage to view the world differently. Butterflies in vibrant colors flutter around his head—symbols of freedom, transformation, and vulnerability. They remind us how often he has reinvented himself, without ever losing his core.
This image reflects his life story. Born Reginald Kenneth Dwight, he grew up as a shy boy with exceptional musical talent. He found his voice at the piano, first literally, then figuratively.
