Striking mid-century peacock rattan lounge chair, also known as an Emmanuelle chair, attributed to Italy.
Crafted in handwoven rattan and wicker, the chair features a dramatic high fan-shaped backrest with intricate spiral and lattice detailing, forming an iconic and sculptural silhouette.
This celebrated design became widely known as the “Emmanuelle chair” following its appearance in 1970s cinema and has since become a symbol of bohemian luxury and mid-century style.
The chair is further distinguished by gracefully curved armrests, a woven seat base, and an open lattice lower structure.
The chair retains its original round seat cushion upholstered in floral fabric, which can easily be updated to suit a contemporary, bohemian, or eclectic interior. A warm, rich patina throughout reflects age and use.
