A refined German Mid-Century side table from the 1950s, combining a slender black-lacquered steel frame with a removable perforated metal tray. The design is characterized by exceptional visual lightness, precise proportions and a clear separation between supporting structure and functional surface. The delicate round-steel base is reduced to an almost graphic framework, while the finely perforated tray appears to float above it. Small circular feet and subtly upturned supports complete the construction, giving the table a highly elegant and architectural character. The tray can be removed and used independently, emphasizing the functional versatility typical of post-war design. The use of perforated metal strongly recalls the work of Mathieu Matégot, whose innovative treatment of perforated sheet metal became highly influential in European design during the 1950s. While no documented designer attribution is known for this model, the table clearly belongs to the same modernist design language: light, industrial, functional and visually reduced. A particularly attractive example of European post-war modernism, combining economy of material with sculptural clarity. Its restrained black finish allows the construction itself to become the central design element.
