This elegant Mid-Century Modern sideboard from the 1960s was produced by the German manufacturer RT Möbel and bears the original model number 127.
The piece comes from a modern furniture range that was widespread in Germany during the 1950s and 1960s. According to the original label, this piece was distributed through the Ergotti furniture store in Karlsruhe.
The sideboard impresses with its clean, minimalist design and warm wood veneer, strongly reminiscent of Scandinavian design of the period. Behind the three doors are spacious compartments with shelves, offering ample storage for dishes, books, or decorative items.
The construction and shallow depth suggest that the unit may have originally been part of a modular cabinet system or wall unit. The currently mounted metal legs were likely added later to allow the piece to be used as a freestanding sideboard.
This combination of modular origins and later use as a sideboard is typical of many Mid-Century Modern furniture pieces and gives the item a very versatile appeal.
Today, this piece of furniture is ideally suited as:
A sideboard in the living room
A lowboard
A mid-century TV cabinet
Storage in the dining room
A hallway cabinet or sideboard
Its slim depth makes it particularly well-suited for smaller rooms or narrow hallways.
