An extremely rare transparent glass bowl of the 'Metsä' (forest) range designed by Pertti Kallioinen for Lasisepät Mäntsälä, in Finland in the 1970s.
Featuring a pattern of wind blown, winter trees swirling around the squarish shape, flaring out from a solid narrower foot, this dark compelling blue colour way (not coming through in all its dark intensity in the photos) gives the appearance of a winter forest at night. An unusual classic mid century Finnish design taking inspiration from nature but rendering it abstract and iconic. This design comes in different sizes, this is the largest bowl.
Excellent vintage condition.
