An extremely rare large cobalt blue glass bowl of the 'Metsä' (forest) range designed by Pertti Kallioinen for Lasisepät Mäntsälä, in Finland in the 1970s. Featuring a pattern of wind blown, winter trees swirling around the squarish shape, flaring out from a solid narrower foot, this dark compelling blue colour way (not coming through in all its dark intensity in the photos) gives the appearance of a winter forest at night. An unusual classic mid century Finnish design taking inspiration from nature but rendering it abstract and iconic. This design comes in different sizes. Excellent vintage condition.
