Set of two hand-carved wooden busts from Bali, signed: I MD Dolang – Bali.
Exceptional sculptures with great character, expressive faces, and beautiful deep wood grain. The busts are made of heavy and very hard tropical wood, which is immediately palpable in their quality and appearance.
The combination of the dark wood, refined details, and organic forms gives this set a strong mid-century / Balinese Art Deco atmosphere. True eye-catchers for a vintage, bohemian, wabi sabi, or worldly interior.
The sculptures are signed on the underside: “I MD Dolang – Bali”
Likely the work of a Balinese woodcarver from the Mas region, known for traditional hand-carved wooden artwork.
Condition: Good vintage condition with light, natural signs of use consistent with age and material. The wood has a beautiful deep patina.
