MCM Color-Changing Alexandrite Glass Ashtray / Vide-Poche – Zeleznobrodské Sklo (1960s). Description: Stunning vintage glass ashtray / trinket dish in an elegant alexandrite hue. This organically shaped design piece was produced in the 1960s by the renowned Czechoslovakian glass manufacturer Železnobrodské Sklo (ŽBS), featuring a fluid design in the style of Miroslav Klinger. Special Feature: Alexandrite / Neodymium Glass (Chameleon Effect). This rare collector's item is crafted from authentic Czech Alexandrite glass. Due to the addition of neodymium in the glass melt, the piece magically changes color depending on the light source. In natural daylight, it displays an elegant pink/lilac tint, while under cold artificial light (such as fluorescent or cool LED lighting), it transforms into a cool violet to soft blue color. Unlike many heavy Bohemian crystal objects, this specific model is crafted from refined, thinner blown glass. This gives the wavy, organic forms an incredibly light, graceful, and elegant appearance.
