A rare collaboration between British brand Mathmos, inventor of the original lava lamp (1963), and internationally acclaimed Dutch designer Sabine Marcelis. For this limited edition, the iconic Astro model has been completely reimagined in a soft shade of Honeydew Green—a subdued pastel hue with a matte sheen and a poetic use of light.
Design & Philosophy
Sabine Marcelis is known for her exploration of light, color, and materials. In this edition, she transforms the classic lava lamp design into a timeless design object that exudes tranquility, softness, and precision. The lamp was entirely handmade in Great Britain, individually numbered (only 1,000 pieces worldwide), and sold out within hours of its release in October 2024.
