Product description
Characteristic, understated composition by the Irish artist Mary Alacoque Waters, who lives in both Ireland (Galway) and the Netherlands (Utrecht). Oil on canvas, signed and dated on the back (2006), on a sleek aluminium stretcher frame. Painted over the edge, so it can/must be hung on the wall as is. In very good condition. Mary Alacoque Waters paints portraits and still lifes in oil on canvas in the style of the old masters of the seventeenth century. Nevertheless, her art is anything but a copy: on the contrary, it is convincing proof that good art is unrepeatable. Her gaze is not that of Vermeer, her models have a different look, they move differently than the Girl with the Pearl Earring or the Woman Reading a Letter. One thing has remained the same: what we see are beautiful, successful people and the objects with which they prefer to surround themselves.
