Oak folding table model “Maria Flap” by Bruno Mathsson, 1969, with and original maker’s mark.
The “Maria Flap” folding table designed by Bruno Mathsson and produced by Karl Mathsson retains its original maker’s mark dated 1969. Crafted in oak, the table features a clever extension system with four folding leaves, each measuring 66 cm, allowing the surface to expand progressively up to a maximum length of 283 cm.
The design reflects Mathsson’s philosophy, a key figure of post-war Swedish modernism known for his research into ergonomics, structural lightness and functional furniture. Its restrained lines reveal a clear constructive logic, while the folding mechanism allows a smooth transformation from a compact configuration into a generous dining table.
