For sale: Sci-Fi vase, designed by Australian designer Marc Newson for the Dutch manufacturer Cor Unum Ceramics & Art, 1993. New in its original box, in good condition. Printed signature and Cor Unum stamp visible on the underside.
The Sci-Fi is one of Marc Newson's most sought-after and iconic creations. A leading figure in global design and a collaborator of Jony Ive at Apple, Newson's organic and futuristic form—a wide body in glossy white glazed ceramic with multiple openings—is directly inspired by the Helice floor lamp he designed for Flos and perfectly embodies the biomorphic space-age aesthetic that characterizes his early work. Produced in a very limited series before Cor Unum's bankruptcy, it is now a collector's item of increasing rarity and value on the international market. A comparable white example sold for $5,000 at Wright Auctions Chicago.
