Offered here is an elegant Art Deco porcelain box produced by Mäbendorf Porzellan, a lesser-known but highly refined German manufacturer active in the interwar period. The piece exemplifies the decorative confidence of late Art Deco: strong geometry softened by ornamental detail, luxurious yet controlled.
The box features a lobed, architectural body raised on four stylised gilt feet, with a matching domed lid. The decoration combines glossy white porcelain with bold red panels and hand-applied gilding, framing delicate golden floral motifs that lend the object both warmth and graphic clarity. The interplay of red, white, and gold is unmistakably period-specific, recalling the transition from ornamental Jugendstil toward the cleaner, more assertive language of Art Deco.
