This "selfish" tea set (designed for one person) from the Parisian firm H.J. Linton is a beautiful Art Deco ensemble. The circular inscription "H.J. LINTON / 30 RUE FEYDEAU / PARIS" most likely indicates that it was made in England and sold in Paris between 1925 and 1935. The "MADE IN ENGLAND" inscription is crucial: Linton imported high-quality silverware from Sheffield or Birmingham for its French clientele.
• Completeness: The presence of the tea strainer with its original filter rest is quite rare. This is often the part that gets lost over time, adding to the set's collector value.
• The Art Deco style: pure, geometric forms are highly sought after today for their timeless appeal, which integrates well into modern interiors. The design, with its clean lines and dark wood handle (likely ebony or blackened pearwood) with slightly angular lines, is typical of the Art Deco period (c. 1925-1935).
