Designed by Michel Ducaroy — the designer who led Ligne Roset's design studio for twenty-six years — the Marsala is one of the most recognizable sofas in French design history. Created in the late 1960s/early 1970s, it was among Ducaroy's first pieces to use the era's most experimental material: a thermoformed plexiglass shell, which gives the Marsala its unmistakable sculptural silhouette. It's no longer in production, making surviving examples increasingly rare to find.
This particular sofa has been carefully restored: the original upholstery has been replaced with a fine, stain-resistant bouclé fabric in a soft beige tone, and the cushion filling has been fully renewed. The result is a warm, contemporary read on a design icon, with the original lines and character fully preserved.
The plexiglass shell is in very good overall condition, showing only the light marks and patina you'd expect from an authentic 40+ year old piece — with no impact on its structural strength.
Its compact 2-seat footprint makes it an easy fit for smaller living rooms or as a second seating area, without losing any of the model's sculptural presence.
