Cute Kokeshi from Shinanoji Japan. This kokeshi doll has a unique and creative design, making it look as if the doll is made from a rough tree trunk or branch, including the bark. The body of the kokeshi doll is made from a rough tree trunk, with the texture of the bark clearly visible. The lower part of the body is painted with a colorful scene. This scene depicts a mountainous landscape with brown mountains, a clear blue river or lake at the foot, and green and yellow trees on the slopes. There are also some white spots that can be interpreted as snow or clouds. The colors are vibrant and contrast beautifully with the natural wood color. On the bark at the bottom of the body, there is an inscription in black ink. The inscription consists of three Japanese characters: "信濃路". The pronunciation of these characters is "Shinanoji". Shinanoji refers to an old name for the region that is now Nagano Prefecture, in the central mountains of Japan. This region is known for its beautiful natural landscapes, including mountains and rivers, which corresponds well with the image on the kokeshi. This kokeshi is a beautiful example of a regional kokeshi that tells a story about the place where it comes from. The height is 30 cm; please view the photos for the condition. Please note: The kokeshi dolls are not new, so there will always be scratches, discoloration, and/or cracks present to a greater or lesser extent.
