Marianne Naerebout (1958).
Marianne Naerebout was born in Rotterdam, but her family soon moved to Curaçao with their baby. How wonderful to grow up under the almost constant sunshine, surrounded by the cheerful colors so characteristic of the island. Close to the beautiful sea and with the freedom of the outdoors. The young Naerebout enjoys the beach, nature, and the friendly atmosphere of the people and steel bands. Her head and heart fill with these images, which consist mainly of colors, abundant colors, and joy.
After wonderful years in the tropics, the family returns to the Netherlands. There, Naerebout first attends the teacher training college and then studies at the St. Joost Academy of Art in Breda.
Travel and artist
Once she's on her own, the itch quickly begins. After years of education in the Netherlands, the world beckons, and Naerebout leaves for Oman. There, she works to support herself, but the tropical schedule also gives her ample space to express her artistry. All her experiences and emotions are translated into beautiful, colorful works of art. Naerebout is a people person and easily blends in with the locals, where she also meets local artists to brainstorm with. A unique style naturally develops through all these unique experiences. After three years in Oman, the journey continues to Damascus. A completely different atmosphere prevails here, making a deep impression on the young Naerebout. She ultimately lives and works in this remarkable city for five years, experiences she will never forget.
The scents, the colors, and the friendly, caring people give her a sense of security. Her art deepens further through these influences. They make her lines even more powerful, the colors even more intense. After Damascus, she subsequently lives in Malaysia, Albania, Gabon, and the United States, where she blends seamlessly with the locals. And increasingly, the feeling of a world without borders grows within her. No boundaries between countries, no boundaries in color, feeling, or experience; everything has become limitless in all her experiences.
Anyone who experiences her or sees her work knows and feels it. Naerebout's world is vast, colorful, loving, joyful, positive, and sparkling.
She has lived in the Netherlands since the end of 1993. Naerebout has exhibited in Oman, Syria, Jordan, and the Netherlands. Her works are included in private collections and have been purchased by companies and institutions including Rabobank, Shell, Porceleyne Flesch Delft, and Oxbow. She creates paintings, acrylics, oils, woodwork, screen prints, mirrors, and ceramics.
