Magnificent large crackle-glazed earthenware figure of a reclining panther, a vintage European piece from the 1960s-1980s. This elegant animal figurine is depicted in a beautiful resting pose, its head resting on its front paws, with expressive modeling and a crackle finish in shades of beige, ivory, and patinated gray. Its substantial size and decorative presence make it an ideal piece for elegant décor.
Length 50 cm, depth 30 cm, and height approximately 13-14 cm. In good overall condition, with the following noteworthy features: an old open firing crack under the chin, three cracks under the base (one extending up the front paw's elbow for about 8 cm), a smaller one under the front paws (both discreet and blending in with the crackle), and a very small one under the rump. These flaws do not appear to weaken the structure. Also present are variations in shade, lighter patches, and areas of brown patina on the back, as well as some signs of age consistent with the piece's age and manufacture. Approximately 5-6 kg.
