Product description
An exceptionally representative vintage Desk by Knoll International from Swiss manufacturing. The original metal plaque preserved in the furniture, inscribed KNOLL INTERNATIONAL – Fabriqué en Suisse, documents its origin.
The generously proportioned Desk impresses with its strictly architectural design language and the characteristic material combination of warm wood, black surfaces, and a delicate metal frame. The long, seemingly floating tabletop forms an effective contrast to the dark cabinet elements and the slender, chrome-plated legs.
Particularly interesting is the asymmetrical, angular construction: In addition to the large work surface, the table has an additional work or storage area attached to the side. This creates a generous L-shape with plenty of usable space – ideal as an executive Desk, for a studio, or as a striking statement piece in a modern workspace.
Integrated drawer units on both sides provide ample storage space. The drawers have black, handleless fronts and internal wooden boxes, which combine the objective external design with the warmth of the wood when opened. One of the upper drawers is also lockable. The large black back panel gives the Desk a closed and representative appearance even when freestanding in the room.
The combination of clear horizontal lines, metal, dark surfaces, and wood is typical for high-quality international office design of this era. I would not make a specific designer attribution for this piece without further documentation; however, its manufacture by Knoll International in Switzerland is clearly proven by the original plaque.
Condition:
Good authentic vintage condition with age-related signs of wear. The wooden surfaces show a beautiful developed patina as well as isolated scratches, pressure marks, and minor bumps, especially in the edge areas. The black surfaces and metal parts also show slight age-typical traces. The drawers and storage elements are generally well preserved. The existing signs of wear emphasize the original character of this exceptional Knoll Desk and were deliberately not over-restored.
