Unlike mouth-blown Italian glass, they used a unique method at the Chance factory in Smethwick.
They placed a flat, heated sheet of glass over a conical mold. As the glass softened, it sank down and formed these natural "folds" due to gravity.
Handicrafts: Although the process was partly mechanical, each vase was finished by hand with a wooden stick to achieve the perfect folds.
Therefore, no two vases are exactly the same!
This pattern features that subtle ripple that refracts the light beautifully.
Color: This specific shade of green was very popular around 1969, when the "Tinted" collection was expanded.
It fit perfectly with the interiors of that time.
Before they made these vases, Chance Brothers was world-famous for their glass for lighthouses. They made lenses for lighthouses all over the world. Posy Vases: This model is often called a "posy vase," intended for a small, tightly packed bouquet of flowers. Collectors: Nowadays, these vases are highly sought after by lovers of Mid-Century Modern (MCM) design. They are appreciated for their organic shape and the way they catch the color of the room.
