Jörg Immendorff - Cityscapes ( motif 1).
1945 Bleckede/Elbe - 2007 Düsseldorf
Stadtansichten (Motiv 1). 2006. Screenprint on paper Paper. 97 x 69cm (84 x 59.4cm). Unsigned due to illness of the artist (ALS).
These screenprints were intended as shares/certificates in the Düsseldorfer State of the Art AG and had an intended print run of 75 copies per motif. The issue price at the time was 100 euros each.
Due to the progressive muscle disease ALS, Immendorff was no longer able to sign them. Very few copies of this unsigned edition are still in circulation. Auction house Van Ham auctioned a complete set apiece in 2015 for ten times the low valuation prices.

Jörg Immendorff (Bleckede, June 14, 1945 - Düsseldorf, May 28, 2007) was a German painter and sculptor. From 1996 until the day of his death, he was a professor at the Düsseldorf Art Academy.
Life and work
Immendorf studied at the Staatliche Kunstakademie in Düsseldorf in the 1960s. Initially he studied scenography with Teo Otto, then (from 1964) fine art with Joseph Beuys. During his studies he was involved in extra-parliamentary politics. He joined the Maoist-Leninist Communist Party of Germany (KPD/ML) and designed their pamphlets, among other things. He was eventually expelled from the academy because of his provocative neo-Dadaist actions.
