About the painter:
The painter Johannes Herbert Plokker lived and worked in places such as Loosduinen, Leidschendam and in Doom.
He was a pupil of W. Schrofer, in The Hague. Plokker painted, drew (pen) and also made gouaches in neo-realist style, mostly landscapes, and architectural subjects. He was a member of the Haagse Kunstkring and of 'Pincet and Penseel'.
