Jean-Luc Bertel Surrealist sculptures of wrought iron. This is Slip of the Tongue. The spoken word goes its own way. The minimalist unique figure was created between hammer, fire and anvil. Forging is a form of modeling. The materials and technique used by the artist blend completely into the result. All the sculptures have a high caressability factor, but are so layered that the viewer almost immediately searches for the message and the relationship the viewer has with it.... The sculpture received a coating that gives the object a beautiful sheen and black-brown color and accentuates the hammer marks. Unique signed work from 2024. JLB received musical training at the Conservatory of Ghent after which he built a career as a horn player, conductor, composer and teacher. At the same time, as a self-taught musician, his interest turned to craft forging, first to restore or manufacture all kinds of ironwork in the old way. Later he discovered the possibilities of making sculptures. After a meeting and short internship with Martin Granel, he discovered the combination of glass with iron. JLB exhibits regularly at the Garemyn Hall in Bruges. His work was also shown at the Vlask gallery in Ghent. Dimensions : 25x16x13 cm
