Jean-Luc Bertel Surrealist sculptures of wrought iron. This is Portrait. An ethnic face impaled on an olive wood stump. The minimalist unique figure was created between hammer, fire, anvil and lasbagette. Forging is a form of modeling. The materials and technique used by the artist blend completely into the result. All sculptures have a high caressability factor, but are so layered that the viewer almost immediately seeks out the message and the relationship the viewer has with it.... Unique signed work from 2024. JLB received musical training at the Conservatory of Ghent after which he built a career as a horn player, conductor, composer and teacher. At the same time, as a self-taught musician, his interest turned to craft forging, first to restore or manufacture all kinds of ironwork in the old way. Later he discovered the possibilities of making sculptures. After a meeting and short internship with Martin Granel, he discovered the combination of glass with iron. JLB exhibits regularly at the Garemyn Hall in Bruges. His work has also been shown at the Vlask gallery in Ghent. Dimensions : 46 x18 cm
