A charming patinated pewter okimono 置物 depicting Daruma 達磨 with cats.
The patriarch of Zen Buddhism is shown reclining on his side, supporting his head with one hand, while holding a hossu 払子 (fly-whisk) in the other. He playfully engages with a kitten at his feet, while another climbs up his belly. Daruma is rendered with a calm and content expression.
The surface displays a soft, warm yellow patina, enhancing the gentle character of the composition.
