Vase by Jan van der Vaart. Made to order in our own studio. The 'teeth' on the side of the vase refer to dentistry, the area where the client was active. The vase was made in an edition of 50 pieces in Jan's studio and was a promotional gift from a dental company. The vase is in blue.
During his lifetime, Jan van der Vaart was considered one of the most important Dutch ceramists of the 20th century. As the founder of a geometric abstract direction within post-war ceramics, he was particularly influential at home and abroad. His work is very recognizable because of its idiosyncratic character and the logical and consistent elaboration of his artistic convictions. His work is housed in several major internationally renowned museums such as: MoMa New York, Victoria and Albert Museum London, Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen Rotterdam, Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam and in private collections
