Dimensions of figurine assembled: height 16.5cm depth 13.5cm width 10cm About Jan Snoeck (source: Wikipedia) Jan Cornelis Snoeck (Rotterdam, March 5, 1927 – The Hague, March 31, 2018) was a Dutch sculptor. Life and Work Snoeck studied at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague, where he graduated in 1949. In 1953, he worked for a year in the studio of Ossip Zadkine in Paris. Initially, Jan Snoeck worked with stone, wood, and bronze. Later, he focused primarily on ceramics. He used cheerful, primary colors, and people were often his subjects. Among other things, he designed the beds for the HMC Westeinde in The Hague. Snoeck's mostly monumental work can be found both in the Netherlands and abroad. Snoeck's work is held in the collections of the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam, the Kunstmuseum Den Haag, the Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen in Rotterdam, the Frans Hals Museum in Haarlem, and the Princessehof Museum in Leeuwarden. In 1952, he became a member of the Sint Lucas association in Amsterdam. On June 2, 2007, Jan Snoeck received the Aart van den IJssel Prize from the municipality of Leidschendam-Voorburg. This prize is awarded every three years to a professional visual artist as a token of special appreciation for their entire oeuvre. The art prize consists of a cash prize of €5,000 and a small glass sculpture made by the Voorburg artist Ming. In 2007, Museum Beelden aan Zee in Scheveningen held a retrospective of Jan Snoeck's work to mark his eightieth birthday. He was appointed Knight in the Order of the Netherlands Lion. The decorations were pinned on him during the opening of the exhibition "The Divine Earthworms of Jan Snoeck."
