Jan Kelderman (1914–1990) was a Dutch Impressionist painter from Edam, best known for his atmospheric cityscapes, landscapes, and floral still lifes. As a self-taught artist, he developed a recognizable painting style characterized by rich color. Kelderman was exceptionally prolific, creating thousands of works which he personally sold throughout the Netherlands in an innovative manner. His accessible style and entrepreneurial spirit made him popular with private collectors, although official recognition by museums remained elusive. He lived and worked primarily in Amsterdam, where he passed away in 1990.
