These Italian bookends from the 1960s are a beautiful example of artisanal craftsmanship. The organic design and the use of natural material make this a striking and characterful object for the home.
The bookends are hand-carved from genuine alabaster in Central Italy, as confirmed by the original label on the underside. The material displays a rich gradation of beige and brown tones with natural veining that makes each piece unique. The sculptural shape, reminiscent of owls, rests on a sturdy, rectangular base.
The set is in good condition with an authentic patina befitting its age. The alabaster has retained its natural luster and the construction is solid.
