The 'One For The Recession' wall light is a sculptural luminaire designed by the esteemed lighting designer Ingo Maurer in 1994. Characterised by its expressive heart-shaped silhouette and protruding, wavy rays, this piece exemplifies the designer's signature blend of poetic form and subtle irony. In other words: A striking example of postmodern lighting design.
Constructed entirely from metal, the fixture is finished in a striking red hue that emphasises its graphic profile. The design incorporates a highly functional element in the form of a 360-degree rotatable shade, allowing the user to direct the light output precisely as required. Produced during the mid-1990s, this specific model is no longer in production, cementing its status within the canon of late twentieth-century collectible lighting design.
The lamp remains fully functional and retains its original structural integrity. It exhibits character consistent with its age, preserving the original red finish while displaying the natural patina of time.
There is damage to the lacquer on one of the 'rays' (see photos).
