A true statement piece, and one of the most striking expressions of Italian lighting design from the 1970s. Gaetano Sciolari was one of the great protagonists of that era. Heir to a long-established Roman lighting house, he redefined the chandelier — turning it from a simple light source into a genuine architectural sculpture — and conquered the international market from the United States to Northern Europe with a bold, unmistakable language of geometry and gleaming chrome. This example is a splendid tribute to that vision. The composition is built around a core of rectangular prismatic elements of varying heights, from which asymmetric arms radiate outward to exposed light points. The result is a dynamic play of solids and voids that evokes a metropolitan skyline — brutalist in force, yet elegant and refined in presence. What immediately captivates is the exceptional build quality. This is a heavy, solid, beautifully engineered piece: brilliant, even chrome plating, precise joinery, and a real sense of mass that you feel the moment you handle it. Craftsmanship of the highest order, entirely consistent with the finest Italian production of the period. Fitted with 16 light points and in perfect working order, ready to hang and enjoy.
