Important and architecturally refined sideboard from the celebrated “Torbecchia” series, designed by Giovanni Michelucci for Poltronova in 1964. Crafted in richly figured honey-toned Italian walnut, the piece embodies Michelucci’s unmistakable dialogue between architecture and furniture design, where monumentality is balanced by restraint and purity of line.
The sculptural upper compartment, seemingly suspended above the solid geometric base, conceals generous storage beneath its opening top, while the symmetrical arrangement of doors and drawers enhances the rigorous yet deeply elegant composition. The warm national walnut veneer displays a remarkable natural grain throughout, enriched by a beautifully preserved original patina.
Signed example, preserved in outstanding original condition, with exceptional craftsmanship and proportions characteristic of the finest productions of Poltronova during the golden age of Italian modernism.
