For sale: an original IKEA Kromvik, designed by Knut Hagberg and introduced in 1981. Single version, 90 × 200 cm, complete with the matching original Sultan sprung mattress.
The Kromvik is one of the most sought-after vintage IKEA designs. Its chromed tubular frame, with those clean curved lines, was designed specifically around the Sultan mattress — the pairing ran in the IKEA catalogue from 1982 through 1994. The modernist form draws clearly on Scandinavian functionalism and still looks contemporary more than forty years on.
A complete example: frame and original mattress, with the IKEA label still attached.
