The iconic Globe wall lamp, designed by Frank Ligtelijn for the Dutch lighting brand Raak in the 1960s. This design is known for its timeless, spherical silhouette and the ingenious way in which the light is diffused, making it a recognizable piece of Dutch design history. The lamp is crafted with a smoked glass globe resting in a chrome-plated metal ring attached to a black wall plate. Inside the glass globe is an aluminium reflector that ensures a focused and atmospheric light output. The construction allows the globe to be rotated within the ring, enabling the direction of the light to be adjusted as desired. The combination of brown smoked glass and silver-coloured metal is characteristic of the Space Age and Mid-Century Modern aesthetics of that period. The fixture is in good vintage condition, commensurate with its age and use. The original materials and finishes have been preserved, contributing to the authentic character of this historic design.
