For sale is an original Hille Supporto office swivel chair, a milestone in industrial design, designed by Frederick Scott. This particular example dates from 1989 and is authenticated by the original Hille Ergonom plc London plaques and the Design Council Award inscription under the seat.
The Supporto was one of the world's first chairs to combine uncompromising ergonomics with a sculptural aesthetic in die-cast aluminum. A classic, it is now part of the permanent collection of the Victoria and Albert Museum.
Condition & Details:
Frame: Solid aluminum, black powder-coated. Age-related wear and scratches are present on the frame (especially on the backrest and edges), but these emphasize its authentic vintage character.
Upholstery: Original black fabric upholstery. The fabric shows minor wear on the edges and seat (see detailed photos). The original padding is still flexible and soft.
Functions: The gas spring for height adjustment and the backrest tilt mechanism are functional (to adjust the backrest, manually operate the lever and move the backrest to the desired position).
Origin: Original 1980s production from Great Britain.
