Launched in 1958 by the Swiss company Paillard, the Hermes 3000 quickly became what many consider the most beautiful typewriter ever built, manufactured in Switzerland by Paillard S.A. in 1968.
This version is equipped with a French AZERTY keyboard and is presented in its magnificent curved silhouette. Its famous light green color and the incomparable smoothness of its typing have made it a legend.
The machine features the main functions that contributed to the model's success: a sliding carriage with manual return via a lever, a ribbon color selector (black/red depending on the ribbon installed), a key pressure adjustment system with Caps Lock and Caps Lock keys, a Tab key, Backspace, adjustable margins, margin release, paper feed and release, a folding paper tray, and metal paper guides. It uses a standard roll ribbon that is easily replaceable.
This typewriter is in excellent condition for its age and fully functional. Only the "read" key on the far right has been replaced. There are a few signs of use, such as small scratches and wear consistent with its age. Its original carrying case with handle is included, but the latch is broken, so it cannot be used for transport.
The Hermès 3000 is internationally recognized as one of the finest mechanical typewriters ever made.
Its keyboard is prized for its smooth operation, its mechanism is exceptionally precise and reliable, and its Swiss craftsmanship ensures excellent longevity. It is highly sought after by collectors, writers, decorators, and vintage enthusiasts.
An iconic piece of Swiss design, as elegant as it is efficient, it will find its place equally well in a collection or in a vintage or contemporary interior.
