An About A Chair by the Danish brand HAY, model AAC 22: the version with solid oak legs and armrests.
What sets this chair apart is the upholstery. Instead of a fully upholstered shell, only the inside is covered. Bordeaux red felt against a white outer shell. From the front, you see warmth and texture; from the back, the sleek white shell. Two chairs in one, depending on where you stand.
The shell itself is the classic About A Chair shape: round yet upright, with armrests that emerge from the shell itself rather than being attached to it. Beneath that is a solid oak base with legs sloping outwards, the tops of which visibly connect to the shell.
Hee Welling started this series with a single chair; it grew into a collection including office chairs, bar stools, and sofas. The AAC 22 is the most home-like version of this collection. The wood makes it softer than the metal variants.
Suitable for the dining room, a home office, or as a standalone chair in a corner. New price around € 479.
