This set of four ceramic mugs was designed by the Dutch ceramist Hannie Mein (1933 - 2003). The design is characterized by a robust, artisanal appearance typical of her work from the twentieth century. The mugs are made of ceramic and feature an expressive, hand-painted decoration in blue and brown tones on a light background. The exterior displays an abstract, geometric pattern, while the interior and back feature a more subdued, mottled glaze. The bottom of the mugs bears the distinctive initials 'HM', confirming the authenticity of the work. The set is in good condition, commensurate with age and use. The glaze has retained its original luster, and the decorations are clear and intact. These mugs make a characterful addition to a collection of Dutch design ceramics. They look excellent in a rustic or eclectic interior, displayed on a wooden wall shelf or in an open display cabinet.
