I bought this quilt at an Amish farm in Pennsylvania, USA. At a farm located between the towns of ‘Eden’ and ‘Paradise’ (yes, that is really what those places are called!), in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania; this area is also known as the ‘Pennsylvania Dutch Country’, a beautiful region where many Amish live on large farms.
The Amish are known for their beautiful handicrafts. The women are very skilled at making quilts. In America, Amish quilts are very popular and also a ‘collector’s item’.
Details:
• Applique Quilt in a ‘Tree of Life’ pattern.
• Dimensions: 300 cm long and 260 cm wide.
• Handmade in 1986; the maker’s initials and the date are embroidered on the inside.
• A large quilt like this takes many hours of handwork!
• The quilt sat on my guest bed for a number of years and was then stored in a closed box.
• Beautiful colours: see photos
Asking price: €450
