An expressive, hand-carved nutcracker made of hardwood, depicted as a standing monk or clergyman with a long beard and an open book in his hands. The movable element in the mouth serves as a functional nutcracker mechanism – a traditional carving detail rarely found in this quality today.
The figure stands on a dark wooden base, has a beautiful warm patina, and displays meticulous handwork in the face, beard, and folds of the robe. A small wooden flap on the back is typical of older, figurative nutcrackers from the Alpine region and Eastern European workshops.
An authentic collector's item with character, both decorative and functional.
