For sale is a striking, hand-carved vintage wooden sculpture depicting a classic Easter Island (Rapa Nui) Moai.
This authentic piece captivates with its sculptural presence and distinctive facial features typical of Rapa Nui art. A special quality of this work is the fine, detailed carving on the back of the sculpture, inspired by traditional Oceanic petroglyphs, which lends the piece a unique depth.
Crafted from a heavy, dense hardwood, the sculpture displays a warm, reddish hue and a beautiful, even grain. A characterful decorative object for lovers of Mid-Century Modern, exotic tribal art, or sophisticated Tiki design, it would make an excellent accent piece on a sideboard or in a display case.
Condition:
Very good, authentic vintage condition with an age-appropriate patina. There are no chips or cracks in the wood. There is a superficial mark on the base (underside) that is completely invisible when the item is upright and does not detract from its aesthetic appeal in any way (see close-up photo).
