A beautiful set of four vintage dining chairs, designed by Louis van Teeffelen and produced by the Wébé furniture factory in the 1960s. In the original brochure, this model is known as ‘Hamar’. In addition to the version with an upholstered back, a variant with a wooden backrest was also available. We collected the chairs in Prinsenbeek from the heirs of the original owners. After serving for many years in the home of the first owners, they moved along to their son's student room. By then, the chairs had become redundant and had been in storage for some time. The chairs have been restored with great care. The teak frames have been refinished, bringing out the deep, warm color of the wood beautifully once again. The rich patina has been deliberately preserved; it is precisely this that tells the story of the past sixty years and gives the chairs their authentic character. Furthermore, all four chairs are in excellent and solid structural condition. The old upholstery and padding have been replaced with new high-quality foam and a fresh, yellow wool fabric that perfectly matches the era in which the chairs were designed. Up close, subtle color nuances are visible, giving the fabric a lively and playful character. Combined with the dark-colored teak frames, a beautiful contrast is created that allows the design to come fully into its own. The seating comfort is also excellent: the wide seat and slightly curved backrest ensure a comfortable, almost embracing seat. And then the frames… wow! The double, graceful spindles under the seat give the chairs an elegant, almost sculptural appearance. Here you immediately recognize the hand of Louis van Teeffelen: refined, stylish, and with an exceptional sense of detail. A timeless set of dining chairs that effortlessly comes into its own in both modern and mid-century interiors.
