This abstract watercolor composition features a guitar, subtly suggested through the use of restraint. The atmospheric tones and fluid brushstrokes are characteristic of Slava's artistic maturity.
Vyacheslav Saveliev is a major figure in nonconformist art, officially listed in the prestigious Bénézit Dictionary (1999 edition), the definitive global reference for the art market. His work is also featured in the collections of renowned institutions such as the Petit Palais in Geneva and the Museum of Contemporary Russian Art in Paris.
This work comes directly from the artist's studio. It was donated in 1993, the year of its creation, in a special context.
During the restoration of the frame, the watercolor was mounted on a period document directly from his professional work: a numbered print (27/90) depicting a painter on the Montmartre hill (with the silhouette of the Sacré-Cœur Basilica in the distance). This document bears the official stamp of the expert's address (15th arrondissement) (see last photo).
