Guinovart was one of the most important abstract painters of post-war Spain. He was a co-founder of the Catalan group "Dau al Set" ("Dice with Seven Eyes"), which also included Miro and Tapiès. This was the first avant-garde movement to gain traction under the Franco regime. Guinovart's work has been exhibited not only in Spain but also in other European countries, the USA, and Latin America. A large portion of his work is now on display in the museum that bears his name in Agramunt near Lleida, Spain.
