Product description
An elegant bronze statue of Mars, the Roman god of war, depicted in a calm and confident pose. The god wears a crested helmet, a short, fitted tunic, and a chlamys draped over his shoulder. His raised arm is a gesture of authority, inspired by ancient Roman iconography.
This bronze statue belongs to the tradition of Grand Tour bronzes, which were made in Italy in the 19th century for European travelers and collectors, based on idealized antique models. The statue is hollow on the back, in accordance with the lost-wax method of the time, and exhibits a beautiful patina.
Mounted on an antique black base.
