At the end of the 1930s, Leerdam launched its own brand of laboratory glass, marketed as LEERDAM LABORATORY GLASS. Products made from this special type of glass bear an etched Leerdam triangle mark with "Leerdam" written underneath in capital letters. Leerdam laboratory glass—a borosilicate glass with a low alkali content—was not used for all laboratory ware; a strong soda-lime glass was also used, which the factory marketed under the THERMAX brand name.
At the time, Leerdam laboratory glass was a formidable competitor to Pyrex glass and Jena glass from Germany.
