Stunning Gispen 409. Rare model from the 1950s. Unlike many other Gispen models, the 409 has not been produced for 60 years.
The 409 was produced from 1933 to 1966. The last models had springs in the back and seat. This model dates from around the 1950s.
The armchair features new wool tweed fabric in the back and seat from Bute Fabrics, which has been thoroughly cleaned and polished!
The chrome has some corrosion here and there, scratches on the lower tubes, and some spots of chrome missing from the tubes, but this does not detract from the charm of this Dutch Design classic. It shows its age and charm, just as a used armchair should.
Original Bakelite armrests without cracks or damage.
