Product description
German Welta Welti I Camera (Welta Dresden, 1950s, East Germany) – Mechanically Functional For sale is the iconic Welta Welti I 35mm analog camera with a unique, folding bellows design. The device was manufactured in the 1950s in East Germany (GDR) by the VEB Welta-Kamera-Werk in Dresden. The greatest asset of this unit is the legendary, fast Meyer-Optik Görlitz Trioplan 1:2.9 / 50mm lens, coveted by contemporary photographers for its unique, vivid background blur. The camera is equipped with a Cludor mechanical shutter and supports standard, readily available 35mm film (type 135). About Welta and Trioplan lenses: The Welta factory, founded in the early 20th century near Dresden, was renowned for its production of precise and compact bellows cameras. After World War II, the factory was nationalized and continued producing successful series such as the Welti and Weltax. The combination of a compact body with Meyer-Optik Görlitz optics resulted in cameras that not only delighted the eye with an elegant mid-century design but also offered exceptional optical properties, prized in fine art photography to this day. Technical and visual condition: Mechanical: The camera is in good working order. The bellows mechanism operates smoothly, and the tension and shutter respond dynamically to the trigger (click). The focus and aperture rings operate with adequate resistance. The device has not been tested with photographic film. Visual: The camera is in very good condition, as seen in the attached photo (actual photo). The metal housing components, lettering, and textured black veneer are clean and complete. The bellows are intact. Overall dimensions: Dimensions in case: approx. 9 x 11.5 x 5.5 cm (exceptionally compact for a bellows camera, perfect as a sophisticated decoration for a shelf, desk, retro/loft interior, or as a valuable collector's display case). Includes: Welta Welti I analog camera. Original, fitted case to protect the equipment.
