Product description
Beautiful oil on canvas entitled "La chambre rouge" by Georges Girard (1917-2003), a Geneva artist renowned for his still lifes and studio scenes. This work features a richly textured table on which are arranged various utensils, containers and antique appliances, in a dense yet balanced composition. The dominant tones are warm: deep reds, ochre and brown, complemented by lighter touches for the metal and ceramic objects. The treatment of materials is expressive, the brushwork visible, the texture palpable. The gilded wooden frame with dark velvet border sets off the work particularly well.
