This set of two Series 7 chairs, designed by Arne Jacobsen for Fritz Hansen, is an iconic example of Danish design from the mid-twentieth century. Often referred to as the butterfly chair due to their distinctive silhouette, the chairs combine elegant design with exceptional seating comfort.
The seats are crafted from molded wood with a striking yellow finish, where the natural wood grain remains subtly visible. The wood grain is more visible on one chair than on the other. The base consists of slender, chrome-plated steel legs that create a light and airy appearance. The chairs were produced in Denmark in 1999, as confirmed by the original labels on the underside.
The chairs show some light signs of use, in the form of occasional bare spots or black streaks, but are still in good condition, consistent with careful use. The construction is sturdy and the original finish has been well preserved, contributing to the authentic character of these design classics.
This set fits perfectly into a modern or Scandinavian interior. They come into their own beautifully at a minimalist dining table or as striking accent chairs in a workspace.
